#260 The Last Peach

Click to buy! (6x6 inch oil)

Painted quickly so that my daughter could eat this peach for a snack...and then she decided she didn't like it.  Anyone else have a picky eater at home?

#242 Blue Vase, Flowers and Peaches"

Click to bid! (10x8 inch oil)

Tried to keep the flowers somewhat loose by mostly just blocking in the lights and darks.  Also wanted to add some peaches because they will only be around for a little while longer!  This is the blue vase I purchased from At Home a couple of months ago.

A couple of process shots below...

#241 French Light

Click to buy! (6x6 inch oil)

Painted for this week's Daily Paintworks Challenge, The Light/Shadow Challenge.  The photo reference was taken by Carol Marine in France.  I was pretty intimidated to try this painting, but I'm pleased with how it turned out!

#232 Pear on Pink

Click to buy! (6x6 inch oil)

When I'm needing to refocus, it often helps me to do a quick painting of a piece of fruit.  Just keep it simple.  This time I chose a pear...which I've only painted one other time for a 10 minute painting exercise.  I love back light and I can't seem to get away from pink this year. :)

#226 July Book Club

Click to buy!  (6x6 inches)

We read "Orphan Train" for this month's book club.  It is historical fiction and I really enjoyed it.  I experimented with a pattern in the background of this one.

#220 Fuzzy Friends 2

Click to buy! (6x6 inch on oil)

Painted these peaches last week, but I'm just now posting!  I was in Texas for the last several days visiting family and celebrating my daughter's 5 year birthday.   I really enjoyed painting peaches.  I'm pleased with how the background turned out.   A lot of times I like the painting until I do the background.  I keep thinking that should be the easiest part but it often trips me up.

#219 Fuzzy Friends

Click to buy! (6x6 inch oil)

Painting peaches was challenging because they are fuzzy!  I wasn't able to rely on a highlight to give it that pop, either.  To make them fuzzy, I added some strokes that were primarily white with some yellow, red and blue mixed in.  I put them in the places where I could see the fuzz on the fruit.  I think it went pretty well for a first attempt.  I was happy to use my striped fabric.  I'm hoping to find some more patterned fabric to use in future still lives.
