#300 Tenderheart

I had a lot of fun painting this piece. I love the golds. I also enjoyed applying the paint using a filbert. I've been using them on my quick value sketches, but not usually for a finished painting. I like the strokes I get with it (can't see it well in the photo). I hope to experiment with it more. I also painted a high key composition and an 18x24" composition. I'll post those soon.

Painted for this week's Daily Paintworks Challenge to paint mostly grays. I added in some gold and painted on a reflective surface for the first time. I really enjoyed that part of the painting. I also think it added that little something extra that the painting needed.

This one was named by my husband :) I love painting these little gold ornaments and all of their reflections. I turned them so that they don't necessarily look like ornaments, but just little gold balls. I borrowed the tea pot from a friend. Thanks, Alicia!

I can't believe it has been three weeks since I updated my blog! I painted this on November 2 and it sold through Instagram. It was my first attempt at painting Christmas Ornaments this year. Lately, I've been doing a gray-scale value plan before most of my paintings. I included the one for this painting below.

I painted this last week and I'm just now posting it here. I purchased the mug at the dollar store when I was buying supplies for my daughter's birthday party. I'm always drawn to things that are blue and green. I struggled with the mug but in the end it turned out ok.

#198 April Book Club

I'll admit I really like this one. When I set the still life up in my box I wasn't too sure how it would go. I like the color of the apple, I like the gold in the background and I like the pink of the eraser. Maybe the book is a little crooked? I haven't loved my last few paintings so it was nice to do one that I'm more pleased with.
For April we read "The Ocean at the End of the Lane" by Neil Gaiman. Very interesting! We will talk about it this Sunday and looking forward to it.
