It was my husband's idea to paint a glass of orange juice.  I had a totally different composition in my mind initially that was going to have a white background, but it wasn't working out too well.  So I changed it up and went darker.  I still hope to do another orange juice painting in a higher key soon.  I tried the reflective surface again, too.  The background is a little more blue than this photo shows.  You can tell that better in the second picture.

#274 Strawberries and a Bowl

Painting was really hard last week.  I was in a funk.  Started multiple paintings, but didn't like most of them.  This was the first one I actually enjoyed the process.  An encouraging artist friend, Gina Brown, reminded me that frustration is part of the process and helps us grow.  So true.

I started this painting last week and finally finished it yesterday.  Not that I'm complaining!  I took a break from it while I attended Sarah Sedwick's workshop in OKC!  Three days of learning and painting.  I'll include pictures in my next post!

#258 Morning Flowers 2

I run by these flowers on most mornings and they are so pretty!  I think they are a type of hibiscus.  They catch my eye every time.  It was hard to get all the subtle shades of purple and pink and the texture of the petals.  The darks in the actual painting are a little darker than they show in the photo.

I was drawn to the colors in this set up and all of the circles.  Composition is really hard for me.  Is it for you?  When I first started painting, I sort of took it for granted.  Over time I've realized how important it is.  I still have a lot to learn about it.

#210 Homeward Bound

SOLD 10x10 inch oil

I took the reference photo for this painting while I was driving home from the art workshop in Alabama.  I think this was Arkansas.  I had a great trip home.  It was long, but the weather was beautiful and I listened to an audiobook, which helped pass the time!  Ever since painting clouds for the Daily Paintworks Challenge a few weeks ago, I've been wanting to paint more.  I'm going to try to sell this piece framed at the Indie Trunk Show next weekend.  If it doesn't sell there, I will list it online!
