SOLD (6x6 inch)
My first attempt at painting this month's book was a total wiper. It looked terrible and I thought I might not paint the book for September. But I decided to take off the book jacket (simplified things a lot), changed the composition and now I like it. We read "Homegoing" By Yaa Gyasi. I love being in a book club because I'm disciplined to read (which I love to do but don't always make time for) and read things I might never had read otherwise. I thought this book was good. Here is part of the summary I found on Amazon.com...
"The unforgettable New York Times best seller begins with the story of two half-sisters, separated by forces beyond their control: one sold into slavery, the other married to a British slaver. Written with tremendous sweep and power, Homegoing traces the generations of family who follow, as their destinies lead them through two continents and three hundred years of history, each life indelibly drawn, as the legacy of slavery is fully revealed in light of the present day."
I learned a lot about the slave trade reading this book. I would recommend it, though want to give a warning that it is fairly graphic.
