Yellow House

Snapped a picture of this house in my neighborhood earlier this week and couldn't wait to paint it!  I love houses like this with so much charm and character.  It was really fun to paint and I'm looking forward to painting some other houses soon.  I'll be in Texas visiting my family for the next few days but will get back to painting early next week!

Snuggled Up

SOLD (6x6 in.)

These are the limes that I painted yesterday.  One of my favorite things about painting is that there are so many different things to paint!  I named this one "Snuggled Up" because they seem so cozy together with the little bowl.

Parrot Tulips

Buy with Pay Pal (8x10 in.)

I'm really pleased with how this painting turned out!  I was a little intimidated by all of the lines and contrasts between the shadows and light but it turned out just as I had hoped!  I actually finished this painting last night and just finished painting some limes this morning. I'll get that posted this morning.  I also talk some pictures while I was on a walk this morning and I'm hoping to get some of them painting, too!

Summertime

I painted this picture for another dailypaintworks.com challenge called "The Summer Challenge".  We were asked to paint something that reminds us of the summer.  When I think of summer, I often think of playing in the backyard with my daughter.  It's my first attempt to paint a person's frontside.  In some ways, I'm pleasantly surprised by how it turned out but it also shows me that I have so very much to learn about painting!

Butterfly

Enjoyed painting my first butterfly yesterday and I'm pleased with how it turned out!  I also started a painting of my daughter last night.  If it turns out well I'll post it once it is finished!

Free to Be Me- SOLD

I painted this for another Daily Paintworks Challenge called "Free to Be Me"....

"When are you the "most you", when you aren't filling the role of parent, provider, friend, or even artist; when there are no expectations from other people or from yourself? What fills you with peace, recharges your batteries, refreshes you? Paint the activity or object or location that represents you being simply yourself. You don't need to show a face or body unless you want to. Maybe it's gardening, watching the sun come up from the back porch (with your favorite coffee mug), riding a motorcycle, bird watching, training a pony, weaving, carpentry, baking, journaling, jogging, sunbathing, hiking, relaxing in a comfy chair late at night after the kids are in bed, or when it's just you and the dog. Or maybe it's a special location where you feel totally part of the environment. Stay "in the moment" as you paint it and let yourself go. Painting is ultimately personal. Give yourself permission to express yourself in your art. Have fun!"

I chose to paint my journal and cup of coffee.  I've journaled off an on for 20ish years.  Journaling has always been a way for me to connect with the Lord, praying and processing.  I know that God loves me no matter what, and that I can be completely honest with Him about everything going on in my heart.  Though I haven't journaled as consistently the last few years, I've seen that truth more than ever before during this season of life.  Thankful for my son, whom God used to grow me in being real and honest with Him and others.  Thankful that I'm free to be me with Him.

Kitchen Window Bouquet

Buy with Pay Pal (10x8 in.)

I love how this painting turned out!  It was looking kind of boring when I started it but I think that's because I mostly only had in the dark parts of the pitcher and bouquet.  Got so much better once I got the background and lighter colors in.   I was also a little nervous about painting in the background but I'm so glad I went for it.

Fuzzy Peach

Like "Fruit Market", I started this painting last week but didn't like the way it was looking so I wiped most of the paint off my canvas.  I decided to go for it again today and it went much better this time!  I've been eating so many peaches the last couple of weeks.  They are probably my favorite summer fruit.  I love the bluish-green color on the canvas.  Many of the walls in my house are a similar shade...such a peaceful color to me!

Fruit Market

It's been awhile since I posted...life has been good but busy!  I started this picture about a week ago and finally finished it today.  It was harder to paint than I thought it would be when I started!  Still don't love the way it turned out but it was a good learning experience!  It was another one of the dailypaintworks.com challenges.

Cherry Tomatoes

Buy with Pay Pal (6x6 in.)

My first time painting on a 6x6 inch canvas.  It looked so small when I started but I really enjoyed it!  The photo makes the background look more purple than it really is...more of a creamy white with some purple undertones.  Oh well!

Apples

I painted these apples earlier today after a busy morning at the zoo with my daughter!  It was my first time to paint apples and I still have so much to learn!  But overall I'm pleased with my first attempt.

Sunflowers- Sold

I finished this painting a couple of days ago.  It was a commission from a friend who basically let me paint whatever I wanted for her!  So sweet of her to ask and such an honor to paint it for her.
